Mission Statement:

It is the mission of Time Out, Inc. to help individuals break the cycle of abuse in their lives.

It is also the mission of this facility to operate a 24 hour "hot line" for the purpose of ensuring constant availability of the shelter within our capacity to house each individual; and for the purpose of informing individuals in crisis resulting from domestic violence about victims rights to legal protection from harm, harassment or threats, and of resources available to attain those rights.

Also Time Out, Inc. will partner with the community and its citizens to educate about domestic violence and to work together to support the shelter and its programs--with the final goal being to eradicate family violence.

Organization History:

Time Out Shelter opened its doors on October 25, 1993. Founded by Cheryl Gay and Terry Morris, incorporated in May 1992. Over 400 victims were assisted in 2002. Funding is provided through grants, individual and group contributions, government funds, and our thrift shop.

Community Projects We Sponsor:

Children’s programs and teen programs as well as legal advocacy are provided to clients in the shelter and to the community as well. Time Out has a thrift shop on Beeline Hwy. which is one of our biggest projects in the Rim Country.

Community Services We Provide:

Time Out Shelter offers emergency shelter with room and board for victims of domestic violence. Resourcing for transportation, employment, education and more is available. Educational groups are offered in parenting, domestic violence awareness, life skills and more.

Volunteer Opportunities:

#1 Several part-time receptions are needed at the Shelter:

Our shelter needs several part-time volunteer receptionists that would be willing to work 4 hours a day, one day a week. Job includes answering phones and to assist and support the advocates. Due to our policies, Time Out Shelter staff and volunteers must be eligible for fingerprint clearance, drug & alcohol free.

#2 The Shelter is also in need of women who enjoy working with children of all ages; and women who would enjoy teaching crafts to adult women while they are staying at the Shelter.
